Forró – Partner dance
The forró first became popular as a partner dance – or “hop” – and is a characteristic type of folk entertainment in Northeast Brazil; its music is influenced by chapbook literature and the rhythm from the accordion, zabumba drum and triangle. Today, it has spread to all corners of Brazil and this type of dance music may include other instruments, namely the guitar and drums. It appears often in folk art, evoking the sensuality of the romantic date.
