The Educational Program and the Social Museum Casa do Pontal is developed since 1996 with the aim of disseminating the Brazilian popular art and democratize access to the institution's collection. Contact with folk art favors the establishment of positive identities, enabling respect for diversity and the emergence of social attitudes, cultural and economical new and fairer. Work in the field of education and social occurs through teatralizadas educational visits to the permanent exhibition, educational exhibitions, seminars and continuing education workshops in folk art, and targeted publications. Since its inception, the program has served 300.000 participants.
Located in Rio de Janeiro, the Museum Casa do Pontal is considered the largest and most significant museum Folk art in the country. The collection is the result of forty years of research and travel throughout the country French designer Jacques Van de Beuque.
Working from memory, recognition and appreciation of Brazilian popular art through research, preservation and wide dissemination of its collection, the most representative of this kind in the country.
